Tired, Bloated, Jeans Wont Fit?

imagesCA3FIQSH          imagesCAN6Z32B

How is it possible to feel so yucky? I deal with this just as you do! I have found that when I am eating clean and getting in exercise I feel so much better! I tell you, getting older, having a thyroid issue is not helpful! So what do I do about it. Well, I honestly will tell you that I secretly wish my body would respond the way it did in my 20’s! I know some 20 year olds that have issues as well, but it didn’t hit me until later.  Up 2 lbs., down 2 lbs., up 3! Sound familiar! It is the Bloated Belly Roller Coaster!

When I stick to my eating plan and Shakeology, I swear I feel like new! If I eat crap, I feel like crap. I can eat healthy all day and blow it in the evening, just like you can. I can say, I’ll start next Monday and then not! All of these things most of us have done or are still doing!

What is different now for you? For me: 100% how I feel determines how I am around others. Yep, I know that when I am feeling bloated and my clothes don’t fit, I am not happy! When I can get into my jeans and sit without pressure, it is a good day! How about You?

So, I always tell people, love who you are, except yourself, and be honest at the same time. If you are not healthy in any area, what can you do about it? It has nothing to do with excepting being unhealthy or not, it is about finding BALANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Balance: For me, I know that nutrition, supplementation and exercise all go together. I have to understand that I am a wife, mom and a business owner. I too have to schedule these things in to my life, as Good Daily Habits! That is why I started the Eating Clean Challenge and why I tell everyone the things I go through. We are all in this together. Sharing how I do it and how I save time is something I get asked all the time.

So I created a bunch of different tabs on here, just for you to look around at. This way you can read what I eat, why I love what I love and Why it works!! Also to see some of my success in different areas of my life. I know I am not perfect, it is balancing and every time I learn something, I want to share it. Take a look at my Healthiest Meal Of The Day, and Eating Clean tabs. These are key areas to go to for my opinion and see what I am doing as well as my updated posts!

Please take a look around! Everything happens for a reason. If I can help you or I have helped you. Please contact me today! I would love to know! The emails I get from people telling me how I have impacted their lives is truly the joy that keeps me going!

Thanks

Danielle

What About Almond Milk

Do You Drink Milk? Are you tired of trying to find the right kind for you and your family?

I get so worked up a lot of the time when as consumers we are told something and go for it without really knowing if it is the best choice for us and our family. That is one reason why I am known for telling you like it is, or telling you My Why on what I eat and drink. Is it right for everyone? Maybe, maybe not. I put alot of time into reading and trying what is out there to know what and why I want to have something.

So, here is what I have learned about Almond Milk.
Silk Original Pure Almond Milk has " 60 calories per serving," is " rich in antioxidants," and is "lactose-free and soy-free," according to what the Label says!
So let's break it down: 1 oz. serving of almonds is about two dozen, has 6 grams of Protein and 165 calories! A cup of Almond milk has just 1 gram- far less than the 8 to 9 grams of protein in a cup of cow's milk or the 6 to 8 grams in a cup of soy milk.
Say WHAT? Why?
It is that almond milk DOESN'T have many almonds in it. Looking at the 2 1/2 grams of fat in every serving, a cup of almond milk is made from about Four nuts. The milk itself is mostly water and enough evaporated can juice to supply about two teaspoons of added sugar per CUP! Blue Diamond's Almond Breeze milks are similar to Silk's, except that it comes in a 40 calorie unsweetened version.
It does appeal to Vegans or to people who are allergic to dairy.
I have opted for Protein Rich soy milk for years now personally. Now I am looking into switching that as well, as I am reading about information that it may not be the best for me after all with my thyroid issue.
My main goal here is to let you know that it is important to research info and know what your Really drinking! After all in my opinion it shouldn't have to be only about Taste. I remember many things that were healthier for me that I didn't like the taste of at first, over time and trial I now like them!
You are Worth it, give yourself what you need and be good to yourself!

Eating Clean Week 3: Healthy Treats

Making Healthy Habits for Ourselves and for Our Kids!

When it comes to snacks this doesn't mean Treats. Make sure you step up and explain to your kids that Treats are not snacks. We all love Treats sometimes, so let's look at some healthier ones to choose from.

I am a Mom of two boys. I know my kids are smart. If I give them knowledge on what is a good snack, treat or what is just plain garbage, they can make a choice and feel good about it. I bet your kids are smart too. I think as parents we either don't know any better, because it is how we were raised, or we do know and just don't make the time to teach our children about healthy food choices. I think even sometimes we fall into the time trap of teaching our kids about good choices and then continue to be examples of eating poorly. Which do you think is more powerful? They will do as you do for sure!

So what are some healthier treats you can enjoy making and eating with your kids?
1. Oatmeal Cookies:
2 2/3 cups unsalted Olivina Margarine
2 cups packed brown sugar
3 large Omega-3 eggs
3 tbsp honey
1 tbsp best quality vanilla
1 1/2 tsp sea salt
8 cups old fashioned rolled oats
4 cups Unbleached all-purpose flour
Optional: 8 oz raisins and 8 oz chopped walnuts

Preheat oven to 350 F.
Cream the Margarine, sugar and eggs together, beat in honey, vanilla, sea salt till creamy. Use large wood spoon to work in flour and Oats till well blended. Make into 3 inch balls and bake 15 min or till brown on cookie sheet. Cool on wire rack. makes about 24 very big cookies.
380 calories, 4 g protein, 21 g fat, 47 g carbs per cookie.
( From the Eat Clean Diet book- by Tosca Reno)

My home love Shakeology Popsicles:
I make them with 1 scoop of Chocolate Shakeology, 1 cup of soy milk, 1 tbsp of peanut butter! Blend and pour into Popsicle holder and freeze! Yummy! Change milk amount depending on taste.

Sorbe is a good choice too, We love Strawberry and Raspberry!

Want candy? How about Newman's Own chocolate covered peanut butter cups. Or Dark chocolate covered sunflower seeds. I also find dairy free, gluten free, nut free and soy free chocolate bars at Fruitful yields made by Enjoy life. I love to find allergy friendly choices too.

Another way to use Shakeology is with NO-Bake Cookies:
1 cup natural peanut butter
1 cup quick oatmeal
1/3 cup honey or agave nectar
1 cup Chocolate Shakeology powder
Preparation:
First, remove rings and wash hands really well. Then combine ingredients in medium bowl. Mix well. Roll into balls ( about a heaping teaspoon each).
Optional: roll in crushed nuts, oatmeal mixed with cinnamon, whole grain graham cracker crumbs, or unsweetened coconut flakes.

There are so many more options out there. I would love to hear from you on something that you have tried and your home loves.
It really is about us as parents making the time for ourselves to be healthy and being the example to our kids! Teach them how to make it easy and not stressful! This is important! Being the example shows your family that caring for yourself is a good thing, it helps us be more fully engaged in the lives of those we love and helps us set good habits that our kids will learn and that will help them be used to it, so when they get older they will have it down already. :)

If you need some ideas on what to eat or how to plan our your meals each day, please see some of the other posts in this challenge from week 1 and 2. Also the Eating Clean Tab above has some ideas too.
