How to look your best in that Holiday Dress

Look Your Best In that Holiday Dress:

We all want to look and feel our best!! What are some things we can do that makes us actually look a bit slimmer than we really are? These tips help many ladies this time of year and actually all year long too. I believe in taking care of our selves as much as possible and doing what we need to do in order to feel great on the inside and look great on the outside; sometimes we need a little extra help especially when we want to look Amazing on a night or day out for the HOLIDAY!
Eating Clean and getting in our workouts is the top way to help for how we feel and look, I know when I feel great it really helps with looking good. I may not always be dressed up, but its sure is fun, and I know I do like to look my best when I go out anywhere for that matter. How about you?

1. I tend to have clothes in my closet that I need to get rid of, they have lost the shape they once had and I have to do a clean out for good will at least one time a year. Wear clothing that looks good on you, does this mean you always have to where jeans or a skirt? No, even a pair of sweat pants and a t-shirt can look cute or not so cute if you know what I mean. Do the clothes you pick make you look slimmer or bigger than you are? This is usually a good way to tell if you should where it or not. I where clothes that are baggy and some that are tighter depending on what I am doing, but some baggy is super cute and looks great and some just don't fit or flatter. Choose what makes you look a little slimmer is usually a good pick.
Choosing a good neck line is a good choice, a v shape neck line helps to lengthen and causes attention to go upward verses downward. What do you prefer? Are you picking a top that will show your hard work in your waist line or something too baggy that hides that? Think about a few of these things and what you feel best in. It isn't always about having to where what someone else says or what fashion says is in, but what you put on and how you want to express your personality or own style. If looking your best is your desire you may have to step out of what you have been comfortable in and realize that a new way may be just what you have been waiting for. So when it comes to that Holiday dress, choose the top and bottom to have the same color, and be sure to accentuate the waist to give a great hour glass shape. Wear heels this makes our calves and thighs tone and look amazing. If you are not in an exact size dress yet, get the bigger size and go have it altered.

2. Any one want some Spanx? I have heard women that I think are in fabulous shape talk about how every  women needs Spanx. We all are not at competitor weight or day at the beach weight all year long right?
If you put on the spanx under your outfit for the evening you will see what I mean, sometimes its just the little hold in that has you feel better and not worry about a little bump showing that maybe or maybe isn't there all year long. I don't wear these very often but I have a time or two!!

3. Do you tan? getting a nice tan helps you look leaner. Cellulite isn't as noticeable with a tan. I tend to preper sunless tanning, find a nice golden glow that looks nice on you and doesn't give you a streaky fake color.
Try some self tanners at home and find what color looks best on you. Or go get a spray on tan or a professional air brush tan. Air brush tan can be done on your own too if you have purchased an at home system. I recommend you shave and exfoliate to help with the process so your tan will look its best. Be ready with your tan about 2-3 days before your event.

4. Hair and makeup and a little whiter teeth: Getting a trim or some highlights or color in your hair is a great way to look your best. Make up doesn't need to be a lot, if you like more dramatic for evenings outs like me, than have fun with it, but most of the time less is more. The top places to check are making sure your eyebrows are shaped nicely and you have some color on your cheeks as well as a great mascara to help make your eyes look amazing. I also love a great little lip gloss with a touch of color. Make sure your teeth are white if you where a darker lip gloss, there are great ways to give you a fresher whiter smile in a few days or even one day. Whitening strips, tooth paste and more can help make your teeth whiter.

The last thing I have to say is your confidence is your sure way to look your best!! When you walk into a room, stand up tall and have an amazing smile on your face. Be YOU times 10!! Make eye contact with others and ask them questions about their lives, be truly interested in what they are telling you and smile at them and ask them to tell you more. You will find that you will then FEEL as good as you LOOK!!

Happy Holidays to you, and MERRY CHRISTMAS,
Dani Laux

Bikini and Figure Competition Tips

Bikini and Figure Competition Tips:

Well, I the Mid West Iron Man Competition was amazing! I'd love to say that I placed at this show like I did my first Two; but I didn't! What did I learn from all of them? Here are some of my tips.

First of all let me say that I loved doing Bikini, I am told it is a good fit for me. I just LOVE Figure as well. If you have read my other posts you know that I competed in my First Competition earlier this year, I did back to back competitions in Figure and I placed 3rd in the First one and I placed 3rd and 5th in the second one. Well for Bikini there were 21 girls in my Tall class and a ton in the short class too. Anyway, I feel at 38 I did pretty good up there with all those young ladies! Would I have loved to place in the Top Five? Of Course I would have! Either way, I learned a lot and had FUN competing with my Friends in the above picture. Keneese in the middle, competed in Figure and Lori on the left competed in Physique. The best part of the weekend was being with them and getting on stage after all our hard work. I even started coming down with a sniffle and couldn't believe how much my nose was running on stage during Pre Judging, I was freezing!!! Its possible to sweat and freeze at the same time, yes that is me all the way. So I have some tips to help you if you are thinking about competing or ready and looking for what its like to actually do it!

1. Getting Prepared is KEY: Finding a Fitness/Figure coach that knows the BIZ and how to help guide you is super important!! Yes I am a Fitness Professional and Help others with fitness and nutrition, and I still needed to have the support of others and help with posing. I have my Dream Team girls above as well as my coach Staci Boyer and Team FAB!!! Putting all of what you need together is helpful and keeps the stress down. After all it should be Fun, even though its a Sport and Art and Hard Work, it should be Fun!!! Pick a Suit that is a great color on you, get feedback and be picky. I have learned that not being picky enough will get you a suit that isn't made the way you want and then you are left to deal with it and make it the best you can. Give Yourself plenty of time to make sure you get it right! And don't forget some high heel clear bling shoes!!!
This past competition I only trained for 7 weeks, I highly recommend 12!! So check out the competitions for 2013/2014 and pick one that you would like to do! In your area is always a great start. You may have to drive an hour or more but they have host hotels to accommodate you.

2. Workouts: Depending on your category of choice will depend on what you many need to focus on more. When I was preparing for Figure I needed to really focus on my back and shoulders as well as hamstrings and glutes. I naturally am more curvy in the lower body so I need to balance my upper body out by having a wider back. My shoulders are my Tough spot, meaning they develop but its very hard to get them too. If I want to do figure again, I need to seriously take time to build. With bikini I could get take my focus off my shoulders so much and really work my glutes and not worry about the time I had. I know I will continue to work on all of my body and build more of a strong base. Even though I get compliments on my glutes, I know I have more work to do!!! I teach group exercise, so I have to NOT Count that as  my own workouts. I love to do Turbo Fire at home for cardio, I'm not a fan of cardio equipment but I do it. I recommend splitting up your workouts to maximize the muscles you want to work, when you get closer to your competition and are doing fine tuning this can change. Lift heavier than you think you should, with good form of course!!!

3. Nutrition: This is an area where you need to make sure you are allowing your body to EAT what it needs to see results, it may be the most challenging part for you. For me I have learned that when I eliminate carbs like oats, quinoa, rice cakes, sweet potato and others, I lean out to much in my upper body, so when doing Figure I usually can't go to many days without these foods. Its really a method and when you follow your plan and keep track of what your body is responding too, by logging and taking pics, you will really know what works best for you. Having someone that helps you with this is super important, then when you have it down you will know what to do for the future. Water, Carbs, Fats, Protein, veggies, fruits, supplements, it all MATTERS!!!!! You will be amazed at what you can do!!

4. Posing: This is so important. I have to tell you this, practice, practice and practice some more. You will be Soar from it and it will make you hurt. This will show you that you are doing it right!! So you must feel it and get it in your brain. Start in the mirror and then away from the mirror, take a ton of pics of yourself as well as video of you doing your walk. Even though I practiced over and over for this past Bikini competition, we still changed my poses the day before the competition. When I did my walk at the night show, I still did a weird thing with my foot that I didn't do in practice, the floor was slippery and I was cold dealing with a migraine; so who knows, it happens. Make sure you are with a coach that can guide you and teach you and help you with this. Read, research, look at it all, study, get the rules for your show and always be ready with more!! Figure girls practice your quarter turns and hold each pose while breathing through your teeth with a great smile. Bikini girls, shoulders back, and glutes up high!! Shine in each pose!!
5. Hair/Makeup/Tan: I did my own hair for my Bikini competition, I will probably from now on do my own make up too. You just have to make sure you have the right make up so it stays on and matches your tan! You can spend over $100 on each if you have someone else do them for you, if you prefer it that way for your first time, make sure you ask your coach and or find someone who is used to working with competitors. Now the Tan I know I need help here. So if you are white like me with psoriasis, ugh its a big deal for the skin to deal with. Staci Boyer does an amazing job with the spray tan and I am forever thankful for her!!! The judges need you dark to see all your hard work under the bright lights!!

6.  Bring what: Food, Water, a hand towel, bikini bite, lip gloss, hair spray, dream tan and puffs (be ready to put on outside, most shows to not allow it in the building)  baby wipes, this list can go on and on. I learned this: Bring a hand towel, I sweat like crazy and it messes with the tan under there and likes to drip down the arm and back, not pretty! Keeping the hand towel with you to pat the armpit while waiting in line back stage will help. I took note of this for my future competitions.

Compete with friends, keep each other filled with joy and remember just doing this is an accomplishment.
I hope you find amazing Joy, Inspiration and a true love for competing.

Love Life, Laugh as you Live and Stay Fit,
Dani Laux

Bikini Fit Happening Here!

Wow, I am in a rush of thoughts about my upcoming competition. Yes, I competed for the first time this year in the Figure division and I am now deciding to compete in Bikini. Why the change? Well, since the start of my dream I always wanted to do Fitness, to take my energy and push it through on the stage and rock it out. Now that I am older and have some injuries and medical issues I decided to go for Figure, I think I did pretty good with two Third place and one Fifth place trophies. I was told when I started Figure training that I have the kind of body that would do really well in Bikini, or figure or fitness. This is really awesome and nice to hear, I just know it comes down to what I really want to do. Right?? I am going through some more medical things and decided to end the year with a FUN Bikini End!!! So here I go, I am doing the Iron Man on Nov 3rd 2012!!!! AHHHH. I started this journey with about 7 weeks to get ready. So this mean lots of action on my part for sure. I may decide to do another show in Nov too. Not sure yet. Anyway, its  my mission to have a Blast while doing this. I am taking this journey with two of my awesome friends Keneese and Lori, they are doing different categories, and it will be great to all be there together. I am also getting help from my friend and Posing coach Staci Boyer, she helped me before and is amazing, so of course I am with her again. I have to tell you this, I went to Staci's Fitness show and it was awesome, she sparked the desire in me to want to do a fitness routine still, so I am setting a goal to give it a go in 2013. I may have some injuries but I believe I can work around them to make this other dream come true.

OK, so if you don't know from my about me tab or my other posts, I am a Migraine sufferer. They effect me in many ways, I am also going through some testing for my pituitary gland to see whats going on there, and I have a lump that needs to be removed in my breast. Why do I tell you this, Because I am all about showing, teaching, helping, lifting up, inspiring and helping other women know that they can go through struggles and be successful. :) So I am sharing this with you, my journey while I go through this and deal with my medical stuff, I will never use it as an excuse, just a truth to what I have to deal with on a regular basis in my life. I hope that it helps you to never give up on a dream and to always know that you can do anything when you just keep trying.

So here I am at the start, my lower abdomen since my gallbladder surgery just hasn't been the same, I have always had pretty good obliques from teaching Turbo Kick and doing Turbo Fire at home, I have gone up in weight and down and I feel that I live to not be skinny, after all I have natural curves and no matter what I weigh this butt, and hips are always there. LOL. Its actually my love hate area if that makes sense.  I actually don't like the word skinny. I love the word fit and strong, I live for that inside and out, not about what I weigh. Competing is about so many things to different people. For me its something I truly get to do where when I walk on stage I feel amazing, I am thankful to be able to do it, and I 100% have the motivation to inspire other women to know that you can do anything you set your mind too. It may not be competing for you, it may be something else and that is totally cool. I hope my journey helps you in some way. I am doing cardio each day or about 5-6 x a week, I teach some and do the rest either on a piece of equipment or Turbo Fire at home, or walk/run outside when my ankle can hang in there. I am focusing on splitting up my weight training and doing about 2 muscle groups together. I add in Plyometrics based off of how my back/hip and ankle are feeling and find that some days I can add it in more than others.
I am eating about every 3 hours and keeping it very well balanced and rotating some carbs, as my body loses muscle if I cut to many out. I do supplement with Beachbody Slimming Formula, Shakeology and Protein Powders. I also drink Distilled water, which is what I always recommend even to my clients and the coaches that are part of my fitness business team.

Posing is fun and when you do Bikini you can really show your personality. Well, have you ever taken one of my fitness classes? I hope you can come out for the competition and be part of the fun and excitement.
I am starting my posing practice with Staci this Friday and will be able to share more pictures and videos of my practice with you.
I am also on the hunt for a suit. I love purple so that will probably be my color choice.

There are many things that as competitors we have to focus on and I think that when the fun is taken out of it, well, why do it. That is me anyway, I can be pretty serious and I am very much a tell it like it is woman and like things a certain way, I just have learned that joy, fun, love and smiles is so good in this crazy world, so why not spread more of that around. I have many women that I look up to that compete as well as don't, the dedication with all they do is a true test and the positive mind frame no matter what is something we each have!!

I hope to hear from you, comment below, keep checking in for my progress.

Chocolate Vegan or Whey Protein Bars

Do you love Chocolate? I do I do!! I am a chocolate lover for sure. I also love to eat healthy and clean and want to be able to get in something sweet sometimes as a treat and not feel like I have lost all I have worked so hard for.

I look at recipes all the time and see how I can make them work better for me. I have used  Whey Protein powder in the past and do have some that I like, as long as it doesn't have artificial sugar in it that is.
I have found that my digestive system really does better when I stay dairy free, so for this reason I choose Vegan Shakeology and Vegan Protein Powder. I use these in my protein bars. I hope you like them too.

NEEDED: 1/2 cup of Vegan Protein Powder or Vegan Shakeology Chocolate. 3 tbsp of Almond Butter (plain, natural and nothing added to it) 1/2 cup of ground Oats, 2 tbsp of Coconut Flour, 2 tbsp of ground up almonds or walnuts or fine without too, 1/2 cup of water and about 4 to 5 squares of Dark Chocolate around 85-90% Dark for the coating.

1. Blend all of these ingredients together but keep the dark chocolate out
2. Shape all into small bars or 4 bars total
3. Melt the dark chocolate so you can dip each of the bars into it and cover. I find using a spatula and tongs works best.
4. Place in fridge for about an hour or you can freeze about 25-30 minutes.
6. Wrap in Foil to bring with you when you need to.
About: 17 grams of protein per bar YOu will need to check the info of what you use to make these to know all your info on fat grams and carbs and calories.
I try to keep it around 17 grams of protein and 250 calories and 8-14 grams of fat, so I will often keep out the extra nuts cause I am using nut butter.

Enjoy!!

Tips to a Flatter Tummy!

Tips to a  Flatter Tummy!

Who doesn't want to lose 5 lbs here and there, right? How about get a Flatter Tummy?
I know I hate it when I feel bloated and just heavier and not myself. I seriously have found that these Tips make a Big Difference. Not only with my self but with many people that I help!!

Tip 1: Drink water- Yes drink up the water. Usually about 1-2 liters a day will do it. If you really want to see less bloating I recommend drinking Distilled water. I often will have clients up to a gallon a day!
Remember if you drink Coffee, drink it black and stick to just your 1-2 cups in the morning. if you drink  Tea, drink it plain or with lemon and if you drink Soda, STOP NOW!! You can have things like PURE Crystal light when you want something sweet or a can of natural soda with stevia. Just remember to do so in moderation and it DOESN'T count as your water, so you have to get in water amount still after. I highly recommend you stay away from Artificial Sweeteners, that is why I only say The PURE Crystal light and not the regular one that is loaded with aspartame.

Tip 2: Start your day with a HOT Glass of Water with Lemon- Take one cup of water and make it hot like you would for tea, take one whole lemon and roll it out on counter top and cut in half and juice it all out with  a juicer and put in water, stir and drink before you eat your breakfast!! This is a great way to reduce phlegm in, get your digestive system moving and is a great liver cleanser, plus so much more!

Tip 3: Have you heard of ACV? - Yes ACV, this is Apple Cider Vinegar. I find it helps me with so many things. I recommend for you to check it out and give it a try. I use the Bragg Brand and that is the one I recommend to all that I help. I used this years ago when training hard and found it helped me reduce soreness and to be honest it was hard to get it down, so I stopped. I added it back in and went slow with it and am now SUCCESSFUL with it and LOVE IT and actually crave it.
Here is how to start with it: Make sure you shake it up really good every time, pour into a spoonfull and drink it down, chase it with lots of water. After you get used to the spoonful make it a couple of spoonfuls before you know it you will be doing a full Shot Glass! I recommend you do this before bed each night!

Tips on Grocery Shopping Success

Do You feel LOST when it comes to planning a grocery list and even more lost when you go to the grocery store? I am told all the time about this feeling from many, and I remember first feeling surprised, and then that changed pretty quickly when I realized that it gos back to how we are raised and what we are taught as children and what examples were set for us. This doesn't need to continue in your life, there is HOPE. You can now learn how to make a grocery list and how to use the list at the store!
I will help you!!!!! So get excited, maybe for the first time about Grocery Shopping!!

1. Wake up and say: Today is the day I plan and get my kitchen and pantry cleaned out and ready for all the food I am to eat that will feed my self and family the foods that will help us have: Energy, True Health, help us lose weight and or just plain feel better!!!!!!
Out with the Crap!! Any food that is loaded with sugar and fat like those donuts, Twinkies, cupcakes, cookies, chips, sugar cereals, ice cream, packaged tray dinners, canned goods loaded with salt, sugar and oils....... Get it. Now get rid of it!! Some of these foods may be OK later and in moderation. BUT if they are a trigger for you and can cause you Sabotage, Get rid of it!!

2. Pen to paper: Write out what foods you need and what staples you need to flavor your foods and any supplements you need to pick up too. Here is a sample to help you plan:

Flavor helpers, staples: Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Balsamic Vinegar, Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar, Sea Salt, pepper, Red pepper flakes, other spices and herbs, mustard, Fresh Salsa, lemon juice, lime juice. So much more too.
Protein sources: Eggs, All whites brand Egg whites ( no egg beaters), Chicken Breasts and Turkey Breasts, Lean Ground Turkey, Extra lean ground turkey, turkey burgers, lean meats if you like red or pork, protein powders, Shakeology, White Fish.. Even more....

Carbohydrates: Oatmeal, Quinoa, Ezekiel wraps and breads, sprouted grains, Sweet Potato, Brown Rice, Rice Cakes no salt, Whole Wheat Pastas, even more....
Fruits and Veggies: Organic Apples, and berries, grapefruit, kiwi, oranges, bananas, pears, tomatoes, celery, carrots, spinach, asparagus, green beans, snap peas, broccoli, kale, greens, and more....

Fats: Natural Nut Butters that you stir and put in fridge, Raw Almonds, Avocados, Olive oil, Flax seed meal, Flax oil and more.....

3. Meal planning: check out the Eat Clean Tab Above for sample meal plans to help you put together a day worth of food and help you calculate what amount you need to get at the store.

4. Write out Grocery List: First visualize the store you are going to visit and write your list out according to the outer part of the store by all the fruits and veggies and meat, then any Aisle that you need to go down for any additional items. Like herbs and seasonings, wraps, coffee etc...

I shop at a couple of different stores to find what I need, now that I am used to it I can get it done pretty quickly. I actually enjoy going and taking a little more time now and looking for anything else that I think is new, exciting or something that I want to research and check out.

My Store Choices: My TeamBeachbody shop on line, Fruitful Yields, Jewel and Target!!! :)
TeamBeachbody is where I get my Shakeology, Protein powders, omega and other vitamins, Fruitful yields other vitamins, Bragg's apple cider, many meats and seasonings, Jewel some meats and produce and Target some meats, produce and much more.

5. Stay Focused when at the Store: Stick to your list, after all you created it for exactly what you need for the week, so stick to it!! Your new focus and desire to be healthy should be your thought the whole time your in the store. If you pass something that temps you, Say: What will that do for me? May give me a minute of pleasure but it will keep me further from my goals and when I reach my goals each week I will have even more Pleasure than what that crap could ever give me!!

I hope this helps you and I would love to hear from you. Please comment below!

Figure Transformation and Show Results!

I did it!! I did it!! My Dreams are coming true!

Check out my video above. It shows you where I was at when I decided to compete in my First Figure Competition.

If you have read some of my old posts then you know how much this dream meant to me! IN a nut shell I have been in the fitness industry for almost twenty years and I have always wanted to compete in Fitness or Figure!! Well years ago financially and medically I just couldn't! Moving forward in life and getting in the best shape of my life happened about four years ago using programs like P90X and my own workouts as well as eating clean! After this I crashed and ended up being diagnosed with hypothyroidism and also my migraines were out of control on top of abdominal pain that required my diseased gallbladder to be removed. UGH!!! Weight Gain!!! 12 pounds up and body fat went from 15% to I think 26%!!!! BOOOO!! What a battle. I added in Shakeology after my surgery and started feeling better, I just kept battling the weight up 3 down 4 up 2 down 2!! Can you relate??

It was time to focus on my goals for my Fitness level again!! As well as re visit a dream. One of my friends did her first competition and took 2nd place, the fire was lite under me to do it too. Yeah, Keneese McNamer!!! Forever thankful for you girl! During all of this journey I have been growing my business by adding in more online consulting as well as Growing a team of coaches through the business opportunity from Beachbody!! Thank God!! From Beachbody alone I Financially am at a point where I make more money in about ten hours a week then my hubby does working his full time job. WOW!!! Yes, its possible and all from helping others reach their goals and directing them with a Solution! I share this with you because this is how I was able to Compete!
Taking on a competition is expensive! There are lots of workouts, lots of food, suits, shoes, tan, makeup, nails, figure coaches and of course being able to enter in to a show cost money too! So yah!!! I am doing it!!

I started this journey in October of 2011 and I decided to add some help to my goals so I got involved with a figure coach in January of 2012. Her name is Staci Boyer, she has an amazing book out called Motiv8n'U and I read it and felt we had a lot of similar ideas and goals and passions. I hired Staci to help me put more together to reach my goals. Just like people hire me to help them, I as well need to have help too! :)
So I became part of her team called Team Fab. Check it out at: http://www.teamfab.us

My first Figure Competition was on March 31st 2012. It was the Mid Illinois Figure and Bodybuilding Championships, NPC, in Ottawa IL. I placed in my height class! Class C: 3rd Place!!!
I am very happy about this and I look forward to doing better and better!!
My next show is this Saturday April 7th 2012. This is a natural show, Yah me, I am all natural!! It is at the Bolingbrook High school in Bolingbrook IL. Come on out and cheer me on!!

Thank you to all my family, friends, fellow Beachbody Coaches, Lori McGraw my friend and training partner, My Team Fab girls. My heart is saying most of the thanks gos out to my husband Tom and my kids for living with me during this time of complete dedication!! My Mom and Dad for always being here for me and yes my family's love and support you all know who you are. I thank God everyday for you all and for this dream being real in my life!!!

Tips to Eat Healthy and not Gain Weight on Vacation!

So much food and so much time to eat it!! Is this how we feel when on vacation or what?

Tom and Dani
My husband Tom and I have had a few vacations and we love taking them for sure. I love food and I mean I really love Healthy food with the occasional treats. So when vacation time comes; I think most of us think we will gain weight because we are off our regular schedules and regular eating habits tend to go away for this time. Its weird because most people work so hard before a vacation to lose weight and look better and then come back weighing even more than before they left, or some tell me that they only gained back what they lost before they left. Either way, people tell me that they don't feel good about it!
I have never been someone to just let my healthy eating habits completely go, sure I have gained weight have had treats more than I should and have had to start over too, but I mean I have never not cared or thought about what I put in my body.
So if you want to go on vacation and not gain weight follow some of my tips below!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here are some top tips to help you eat healthy on vacation and not gain weight!

1. Pack meal supplements with you and a small blender too! This will help you when in your hotel room to make a good meal and keep your energy up for all your adventures.

2. When you arrive take a look around at the food choices available to you, get menus and read them and plan out what you can order to stay focused on eating clean. This will help you to plan so you can still eat every 3-4 hours and make the best choices possible in portion sizes.

3. Bring water with you where ever you go!! And Limit alcohol. IF you are going to have a drink, choose a glass of wine or something that isn't loaded with a ton of extra sugar or fat. If you really want one of those kind of drinks count it as your dessert and that means NO DESSERT!!!
Drink plenty of water in between to help stay hydrated and also so you can enjoy the drink and keep enjoying your vacation. :)

4. Walk, Exercise and MOVE!!!!! Keep moving and doing so you are burning more calories!! Check out what exercise options you have, some places have really nice workout areas that you can use while you stay there, hey an extra 30 minutes of working out doesn't take that long and will keep you going!!!

Secret to An Amazing Body!

Finding the way to fire up the body to burn fat and look amazing, sometimes seems like a BATTLE!! I have to tell you that resistance training along with Eating Clean can make all the difference in the world for you. I say these two things today because I have found that most woman skip resistance or weight training and focus all their attention on cardio exercise. Now don't get me wrong cardio exercise is part of the journey too, and is a great form of exercise, I teach a bunch of it and do my own share of it as well. My point is this, so many women fall in to the cardio trap. What is the Cardio Trap? I think it is when we think we need to eat less and burn as many calories as possible while doing cardio. HMM, are we burning off our much needed muscle here?? When you start to lose weight you will burn less calories and you have to work harder to burn the same amount you used to be able to burn. Also, when you start to get used to the cardio exercise your body adjusts and doesn't burn the same amount of calories anymore. So what are we to do?

I have watched women for years work on cardio, cardio and more cardio and then only do a series of a few machines for weight training. I am very happy that I see them doing something, so don't get me wrong, I think that is great. What I am talking about is the women that want to see more results and when they are told to do resistance more or different than what they are doing, or told they need to eat more ; well they don't do it. I know alot of times it is because they are not sure of how or what to do. So when we as fitness professionals say things like add dumbells or cables equipment in or try yoga or PiYo; the ladies sometimes are not sure of what to do with the dumbells or are intimidated to try a class. This is part of why I have a strong passion to connect with woman and get them in the weight room or in to a class and feel good about it. Also to understand that if you prefer to workout at home in private, there are a ton of options out there to help you do just that. I keep doing more and adding more to my business so I can reach as many people as possible and help them be healthy and truly see the results they want and live the life they want. So let's keep going!

Boosting the Metabolism is Key:
Men tend to burn more calories than women. Also for most of us the metabolism slows down after we turn 40 years old. The body does burn calories all the time even when we are sleeping. Those that have muscle burn more calories at rest. Every pound of muscle we have uses about six calories a day and fat only two a day. After a great muscle workout you can increase your daily average metabolic rate! This is great news!!

Tip for a great Cardio workout:

1. Remember that you can burst your metabolism better by doing higher intensity cardio workouts. The great thing about this is you can do it for a shorter time. This will rev that metabolism hours after the workout. You must work it!! I love HIIT ( high intensity interval training) I get this when I do Turbo Fire!!

Well the SECRET to AN AMAZING BODY that is healthy and fit inside and out is this:

1. Add Weight Training or Resistance Training in to your weekly routine at least two to three times a week. I would love to see it in your workout schedule more than this, but hey I want it to be realistic for you too. If you are just starting out with weight training, doing it two times a week is probably a great way to see results and as you get stronger you will make adjustments and changes in order to keep going and not plateau. If you have been doing weights already and are still not seeing results, well it is probably time for a change in your routine, reps, sets and how much weight you lift. This means you need to change your intensity level while you workout. Are you working hard enough? Do you feel it? Don't be afraid of lifting heavier weights, as long as you have good form and are in control of the weight than you are good to go!

2. Add healthy clean eating into your weekly schedule. Eating balanced food with a good amount of protein, carbs and fats is key, while staying away from the fast foods, junk, extra salts and sugars. This means we must eat about every three to four hours and make good choices. This keeps the metabolism going!!! More on this in other posts as well as my tab on Eating clean above!

It may not seem like a secret, but the point is this. Do what you need to do to see the results you want, it is more about creating these things to be daily habits and then it is just part of your life. The deep desire you have inside will get you started. I believe we can all do it, we just have to start.

If you are looking for more help please visit my On Line Consulting Tab Above and see some of the options I have for you! I will personalize everything for you to help you see the results you want.

Eating to Shed Fat

Eating To Shed Fat:
Dani Feb 12 2012
To lose or shed fat from the body is something that most of us want to do. I know most of us want it to happen now, so we can feel and look better in a day. Right? I'm laughing as I type this because it is so true. Even though I know better, it is still a deep down wish and desire; but I also know that the journey is a life journey and the hard work everyday becomes easier as it becomes a daily habit instead of a chore.
So, what am I eating these days to lose the weight I have lost while keeping/building lean muscle?
I don't want to be skinny Minny, I want to see muscle definition and feel amazing in and out of my clothes. I think the past two years I felt good in certain clothes but now I feel great in most of them. Yeah!!! I say feel because it isn't all about the look for me, it is the feeling of being healthy, strong, confident and balanced in every way; from energy to how much I lift in weights, to how focused I am when working to my time with my hubby and kids! And More and More!!

Food for me is fuel for my body, so I can get up get going, teach, train, run a business, be a mom and wife, go to the store, run here and there, take care of the dog, read my bible, be in prayer, focus on relationships and more and more. Can you relate? We have much to do in our lives, so we better learn to eat what is going to help us do what we need to and what we want to. Right? I don't know about you, but feeling bloated, dragged down, tired, headaches, migraines, overweight, hurting, no concentration, depressed and just plain yucky is not how I want to feel in my life. I hope that you don't want to feel like this either. If you do feel like this, I encourage you to take the steps you need to in order to get on a path of health and wellness! It may not be easy but it is so worth it and it does get easier as it becomes a habit.

OK, Back to what I am eating to lose the weight I have lost while keeping/building lean muscle. Is this what you want to know? Here is a little bit of what I am doing.
1. I Drink a lot of Water. Aim for about 2 liters a day. I love lemon water too, great liver cleanse!

2. I eat every 3 hours, sometimes its 2 1/2 hours, I tend to be a hungry girl. LOL! This is about 5-6 meals a day. Helps me to stay on track.

3. I balance my food with a protein, carbohydrates, veggies, fruits and fats. You can too, balance each meal so you have the proper portion size for your meals.

4. I supplement using Protein Powder and Shakeology as well as vitamins and healthy fats too!

5. When I am still hungry, I use green tea and lemon water to help me! Works every time!

6. I allow a cheat meal here and there, something to look forward too, like pizza or a chocolate muffin. Yes I like these foods, but don't make them part of my everyday plan. :)

Sample Day:
Meal 1: 6 egg whites, 1/2 cup of veggies and Slice of Ezekiel Bread! Water, vitamins and black coffee.

Meal 2: 3 oz of Chicken with 1/2 cup of veggies.

Meal 3: White Tuna with 1/2 cup of veggies and a small sweet potato.

Meal 4: Protein shake with some Shakeology mixed into it.

Meal 5: 3 oz lean ground turkey with 1/2 cup brown rice and veggies.

Meal 6: Protein shake!!

Success happens when you take action and turn all the steps you need to take each day to reach your goals into a daily habit! You can do it. Reach out to me if you would like more information on Challenges that I run to help people reach their goals. My team is successful and has an amazing amount of accountability, motivation, encouragement and focus to give to help each person we come in contact with each day.

Good Bye Thyroid Meds, Hello Better Butt!

YES!!!! Its true I am off my Thyroid medication. You may be thinking, How, why, what, is this possible? I will share a bit with you today on how I did it! I am also transforming my rear end, yes my booty, glutes, butt or whatever you say. Check out my progress pictures below:

I have been working on the proper amount of rest, exercise, food and so much more for all my life, I have been up, down and all over the place from time to time. If you have read any of my other posts or information tabs about me and my other transformation you learned some of the things I have been through. Basically I got in the best shape of my life and then I ended up CRASHING big time. The stress of things in life came at me like a bang and my health was completely stressed. I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism and ended up having to go on Synthroid. After that I ended up having my Gallbladder removed! Ugh, talk about slow down. But I am determined to keep going, so I recovered and found that with all my research, reading and most important actually doing what I needed to do to see results; I am on my way to my Top Goals! For me those things are: Living life with quality and Balance, feeling good inside and out and shouting it to all to help them do the same, working my business with joy to reach others and help them reach their goals too, while getting closer to having my husband be free from a full time job, loving my family and being an example to my kids, and Walking on Stage for my First Figure Competition!! Oh yeah!!!

What steps have I taken to get off medication? Well it was a process of getting well and learning how to handle stress, as a migraine sufferer it takes time to rest and time is something we all have the same amount of and I learned it is how we each use it. We are all different, but certain things work and I had to stick to them. HABITS and FOCUS!!

Step 1. Eat Well: This means feed your body to live and have energy, not live to eat and feel full and sluggish. I now get to share how to eat well with my team of coaches and clients and I love that it helps them to feel GREAT and see RESULTS!! That is the best feeling ever.
Check out my eating clean tab as well as older posts with videos on tips about how to eat well and see results! Losing Body fat has helped my rear end so much, it show all my hard work.
Step 2. Workout for me: AS a fitness instructor and trainer I can give anyone a kick butt workout and tell them what to do. But nothing gives me the workout I need like when I schedule in my own workout time for what my body needs. I have videos up on this as well on my YouTube channel. Yes, this has helped me transform my booty and see more shape and less fat!  Feel free to view some tips here:  www.youtube.com/DanielleLaux
Step 3. Proper Rest: This is something that was Hard for me to do for years, I am a go go go kind of girl. Clean, workout, cook, teach, train, work, work, work, I love it all. Woo hold on, then I crash!! Um, I don't want to sprint and crash, sprint and crash, I want to run in a journey for life, some days hard some days moderate some days easier. I learned that this is key for me, if I don't take time to rest and recover I am not good for anything. I'm not perfect, but I am way better and it shows in my results!
Step 4. Supplement: I had to learn what I need to take in order to feel good and help my body get in what it needs. This for me is a combination of things, surprise its alot of things I have always recommended others to do to see results! So this girl is a product of what she recommends for sure!
Step 5. Plan and Prepare: you must, must, must plan and prepare your week. Write out goals, what you want to accomplish each day and how your going to do it. What do you need to get at the store, and what will you do to make sure you exercise. These are all things I had to make sure I do, after all I tell others to do it, I need to too!

If you would like to learn more about me, my team or starting on my team, or anything fitness related, please look around my blog today and send me a message with any questions. I look forward to connecting with you.
